UniFrame® Windows and Patio Doors Recognized for Superior Energy Performance
TOLEDO, OH, 2005 – UniFrame premium replacement windows and patio doors by Great Lakes Window have been certified by the National Fenestration Ratings Council (NFRC) for maximum thermal efficiency – performance that has made UniFrame an ENERGY STAR® partner for the energy efficiency of its complete line of window and door products. NFRC-certified UniFrame products have U-Factors as low as .18, far exceeding the most stringent Northern Zone ENERGY STAR requirements.
The performance of UniFrame windows and patio doors begins with their uiPVC frames, manufactured for superior strength and durability and include multi-chambered extrusion designs. Fiberbeam® reinforcements add protection against flexing and help ensure weathertight performance. These reinforcements are strong as steel, but will not conduct cold like metal. Then comes 400 cubic inches of Great Lakes Window’s patented R-Core® insulation to surround the Fiberbeam reinforcements and fill the sill, providing a frame R-Factor of 20.
UniFrame windows and patio doors’ energy performance is further enhanced by the optional Maxuus® 10 insulated glass system. Maxuus 10 delivers the ultimate triple glazed energy efficiency by combining two panes of vacuum-deposition Low-E glass with an interior glass substrate and two insulating chambers of krypton gas.
The result is an insulated glass unit nearly ten times more energy efficient than single glass. UniFrame also is manufactured with patented Warm-edge Intercept® insulated glass for maximum insulating properties.
